FCi Federal President & CEO delivers keynote speech at women-owned small business national conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. – FCi Federal founder Sharon D. Virts shared her government contracting success story with other women-owned small businesses trying to break into the federal market on Aug. 1 at the National Small Business Contracting Summit.

Virts is the 2012 recipient of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce’s Women Contractor/Growth Master award.

“To be successful in this business, you have to believe in what you do and you have to have a passion for it,” said Virts, who has over 25 years of federal market experience. “Look at what you’re offering and see if there’s anything different from what other contractors are offering. If there’s not, make something different.”

Virts decided to take Leesburg, Va.-based FCi Federal in a new strategic direction in 2005, focusing on direct contractual support to the government with adjudication support, records management, and other administrative services.

“Our story is as much about transformation and change as it is about growth,” Virts said.
