FCi Federal Invited to Attend San Bruno Compaction Project Ceremony

Members of the FCi Federal executive team were invited by USCIS to attend a ceremony to recognize the completion of the San Bruno Compaction project in San Bruno, California on Friday, May 29. This effort, which the local FCi Federal Field Office Support Services team helped manage, preserved immigration and family history documents for hundreds of thousands of immigrants from China, Japan, the Philippines and other Asian countries who were born from the 1860s through 1910.  

Immigration Alien Files (A-Files) are a key piece of information in genealogical and other historical research and they are the primary documentation for most of our government’s immigration processes. There are about 70 million active A-Files, according to the Department of Homeland Security, predominately maintained as a paper record series. Working in various ways with these records is a core function of the FCi Federal Citizenship, Immigration and International Travel division.
